June Wrap Up #1

Good Morning Hon,

It's June!  It's officially the midway point in the year.  All the time I thought I had is quickly disappearing.  But it's an exciting time with our anniversary and a Zumba convention coming up, back to back I might add!  I am super stoked!

I was able to replace my camera card although many of the items done in the photo shoots for the blog have already gone out to their intended.  Guess I'll have to make more of them.  Oh, poor me, force to go back in my favorite place (my sewing room, after temples that is) and do what I love to do (sew things, make thing and create memories).  Such a hard life I live, zeesh.  LOL.  Really, I do love to create, but I did work hard setting up my first little photo shoots that will never get to be seen.  It is really disappointing.  But such is life, ups and downs, right?  I just have to suck it up and put on my big girl panties!

So, with that being said welcome to the next session of Wrap It Wednesday.

This is a black pashmina I ordered from ebay a few years ago.  I uses a thin narrow little animal print accent scarf, I think I bought this at Wal-Mart also a couple of years ago.  That add  a bit of sass and pop, plus it matched my awesome full maxi skirt.

The little leaf hanging on the side is actually a part of an earring project that I had not started yet.  I have found that many things hand beautifully from my scarves.  I used a matching pin to hold it in place and it worked great.  You'll see in future post how many different things I use.

Wrap-It Wednesday

Howdy Hon,

Welcome to my little inspiration for those of us who love or are interested in wrapping our hair.  Whatever you reason, religion, fashion or just for fun.  This is where I share some of my results of just playing around with my scarves and pins until I find something that I like.   I hope you enjoy this little episode and I hope you can find inspiration in this series of posts.  

Since it's more about inspiring others to just play with their scarves I won't post a tutorial.  However, if you see a look that you would like to recreate just post on that post and I'll be happy to do a short tutorial showing you how I accomplished that look.

This beautiful geometric hijab is from Halimah Hijabs.  Her costumer service skills are excellent and the quality of her scarves are great.  I have not any problems with fading  or bleeding onto other items in the wash.  And the weight is great, especially when mixing them with an already heavy pashmina.    It was out of my comfort zone to order such a bold hijab for wrapping.  Did you notice the pop of lime green in some of the triangles and did I mentioned it had little tassels on the edges, LIME GREEN.  It was so much fun to wear this one!  Generally I had only used solid colors and tichels for wrapping.  I decided to step out there and try some some of the gorgeous scarves that were flashing across my screen.  Anddddd, I had a coupon code for Halimah Hijabs, courtesy of Nadira037 (I did a review on her sheet maxi skirt, if you haven't seen it look it up under Marvelous Monday).  So I ordered several hijabs.  I can't express to you how much I have enjoyed playing with my solids AND designed scarves, together.  This particular look was even more out of my comfort zone because the skirt was chevron and the scarf was geometric, with the little lime green tassels.

I felt so free and sassy that day, mixing patterns.  So here is this week's favorite:

Wrap-It Wednesday

Hello Hon,

Happy Hump day!  Woo-woot, hang in there, we're half way through.

I have learned to love my natural hair over the years.  We have finally become good friends.  As long as we both understand that I can do whatever I want to her, and she is going to do whatever she wants in response.  When I am patient and take time to do techniques I know she likes everything works lovely.  When I am lazy and tired of detangling over and over, she let's me know how displeased she is.

Protective styles are simply as most, even if it's just for the day.  One of my favorite protective (and lazy) style is wearing a headwrap, also know as a pashmina, tichel, bonnet, turban, hijab, gele, scarf, etc.  I absolutely love them all.  I don't care what name you call it, I love wrapping my hear with material of some sort.  I have some of each of the styles previously mentioned.  Each one has it's own unique character and I like to dabble in them all.

So I thought maybe once or twice a month I would share one with you.

This week is one of my favorites:

This is actually a pashmina scarf and a silky like scarf I order, I'll give you the name's once I make sure it's okay (I'll include that with the all, in case you are looking for places, and not all are ordered from shops!).  Once I wrapped the two around in a way that was satisfying to me, I topped it off with a pretty little coordinating flower.  Oh my gosh, I felt so pretty with that wrap event though I was just in a simple skirt and blouse for church.  

Hope that gives you some inspiration for your next wrap.  I will be doing some tutorials on my YouTube channel in a couple of weeks.  I promised a friend I would do some for her.  Let's see that was about a year or so ago, yep, I'm right now schedule, NOT.  I'm thinking I'll do these posts on first and third Wednesday's of the month, YouTube videos's at the same time.
